Feedback – the word itself often makes anyone squirm or instantly panic. For the person receiving the feedback they often think …..oh what is coming… what am I going to hear….what have I done… For the person giving the feedback there can be an equal amount of panic and often the thoughts are…. I don’t want to have this difficult conversation…. I will do that conversation another day…. I will just ignore the problem and it will go away.
As it is a new year there is often an emphasis on focusing on careers and new job opportunities. This is when certain question are asked. Do education and qualifications really make a difference? Will not having any education or qualifications mean you are stuck in your current job indefinitely? Does education and qualifications really differentiate you from other applicants? Are education and qualifications required for you to get your dream role?

Staying on a similar theme is a New Year Resolution focusing on personal development – whether this is training, development in the workplace or further education such as a diploma, degree or even a Masters. Continuous learning and development is a great investment in ourselves and can lead to further opportunities in the workplace.

As crazy as the title for this blog post is, it is coming to the end of another year and the usual ritual of thinking and deciding on 2017’s new year resolutions is drawing close. I do not know about you but I often forget to think about work when it comes to new year resolutions and usually consider ones to do with giving up a bad habit…too much sugar or doing more exercise….run/walk/cycle/Pilates three times a week.
